Only submissions sent by snail mail will be considered. These submissions must be typed, double-spaced and on one side of the page. Good quality photocopies or computer printouts are acceptable. If you would like your work returned and a response from CTQ please include a SASE with Canadian postage or international reply coupons. If you don’t require your work back but still want a response from CTQ, please include an email address with your work. All submissions must also include author’s full name, mailing address and home phone number.
CTQ also accepts illustrations and other types of artwork for the magazine's ART INTERLUDES. These must be dark and imaginative...a continuation of the themes Crow Toes Quarterly embraces. Art submissions can be mailed or uploaded. If you are mailing your submission, PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE ORIGINALS. High-quality colour copies or high-quality (300dpi) JPEGs, TIFFs, or PSDs on CD are acceptable and will only be returned if requested and a SASE is provided. If you are uploading your submission, upload a low-res file of the work (a maximum of 400 kb and a maximum of three pieces) to:
artsubmissions@crowtoesquarterly.com
If the work is chosen for publication, we will request a high-res version of the file. Artist’s name, mailing address and home phone number must also be included with submissions. CTQ is always looking for artists to illustrate selected works. Please email us at the above address and let us know if this is something that might interest you. Include in your email a short bio and a link to some of your recent work.
Crow Toes Quarterly is a very small magazine that runs on a shoestring budget. Sadly, CTQ is unable to pay its contributors. Well, that's not totally true. CTQ will throw in two copies of the limited edition print magazine in which the contributor's work appears. CTQ will also give contributors a hearty pat on the back. And who doesn't like a hearty pat on the back? Seriously.

TIME
If you submit a short story or poem to CROW TOES QUARTERLY, it may take up to five months for a response. It is our intention to respond personally to each and every piece. This may be naiveté on our part, but it is something we are really going to try and do. We are a small operation stretched to the limit, so we ask for your patience. In regards to art submissions, we only respond to those we are considering for publication. We respond to art submissions within eight to ten weeks, so if you haven't heard from us by then, well... it probably wasn't meant to be. But please keep trying. The CTQ staff are all huge fans of persistence (and creepy art)!
RIGHTS
If CROW TOES QUARTERLY does select your work for publication, CTQ obtains one-time publication rights (for both the E-Zine and the limited print edition of the magazine) and non-exclusive archival rights. Our PDFs will be available through our website indefinitely. Oh yes they will!
WEBSITE
By submitting work to any one of www.crowtoesquarterly.com's online requests (Ogilvy's Haiku Duel, The ABCs of Frightful Things, etc.), you are giving CROW TOES QUARTERLY and its staff the rights to republish said work, the author or artist's name, age and hometown on its website for an indeterminate amount of time. If you are between the ages of eight and thirteen please get your parents' permission before submitting your work.
If you are still wondering what we're all about, please check out "Our Influences."
